Telecommunications firm, MTN, has been threatened with a lawsuit by the South-South Youth Leaders’ Forum for continued poor services rendered to the citizens.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the Chairman of the forum, Mr Odiedim Amachree said that it would not remain silent and watch MTN deliver substandard telecoms services to Nigeria in general and the people of the South-South in particular.
Accusing the service provider of operating dual standards and compromising efficiency and best standards practice, Amachree argued that the already poor services deteriorated during the Christmas season.
“All is now set to stop MTN’s protracted poor service delivery in Nigeria, as we prepare to sue on behalf of ourselves and other South-South youths who are using the network,” he said.
He also said they could not sit back and expect the government to do everything for them, especially when a framework for addressing such issues through the courts exists.
In a statement signed by amachree on behalf of the group, he called on other Nigerians who had been victims of MTN through poor service to support the forum’s legal action.
He encouraged Nigerians to always protect their rights and drop the attitude of not showing enough resistance anytime their rights were trampled upon.
