The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, Mohammed Ari Ali, has paid a condolence visit to the family of Onyeka Ibe, who was shot dead during the week by one Inspector Ebri Ubi in Asaba, the state capital.
The police commissioner was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Operations, Johnson Adenola, who was accompanied by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, Asaba Area Commander and others.
Edafe shared photos of the visit on Twitter on Friday.
Insp. Ubi reportedly shot the victim, popularly known as Onyi Gadgets, for refusing to part with N100 bribe.
Before his demise, Ibe was said to be a phone seller in Ogbeogonogo market in the state.
During the visit, the deputy police commissioner and his entourage commiserated with the family over the wrongful killing of their son adding that the force share in the pains of the family.
According to Adenola, late Ibe was well known to many officers of the command and a good friend of the police whose death was highly regrettable.
The DCP added tht Insp. Ubi’s actions were unjustifiable and following his arrest by the police, he will answer for his indiscretions.
He assured the family that the police commissioner has insisted that justice would be served after the conclusion of the internal disciplinary process which has already commenced after which the culprit would be arraigned without delay.
The family thanked the police hierarchy for the visit and restated hope that the command will dispense justice for their son.
