Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday, says the force has concluded arrangements to establish Terrorism Investigation Unit in Maiduguri to enhance counter-insurgency campaign.

He added that the command had also embarked on construction of Explosive  Ordinance  (EOD) training school in Maiduguri.

The I-G explained that the school was designed to provide training for men and officers of the command to check indiscriminate attack through IEDs.

The police chief said “we have also deployed additional units and sniffer dogs to Maiduguri to guard against suicide bomb attacks and enhance security.”

Idris disclosed that the command was undertaking rehabilitation and equipping of its Mobile Police Force (MPF) Training School, Gwoza.

He reiterated the commitment of the command to successful implementation of counter-insurgency campaign, protect lives and property, as well as peace restoration and stabilisation in North East.

He commended Gov. Kashim Shettima and Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai El-Kanemi “for their support to the police.”

The Borno deputy governor commended Federal Government over the rescue of the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls.

He urged the police and other security agencies to rescue the remaining Chibok schoolgirls and other persons in insurgents’ captivity.
