A 37-year-old housewife has been rescued from captivity after she had spent two days in kidnappers’ den by the Police detectives in Asaba, Delta State, at the weekend.
It was gathered that the criminals stormed the residence of the victim and, after shooting sporadically, took the housewife to an unknown destination.
Confirming the kidnap and the rescue of the victim, police public relations officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said on April 14, 2015, at about 7pm, three unknown armed men stormed the house of one Chidi Ajah, residing at the back of NNPC Mega Filling Station along Asaba/Benin Expressway and kidnapped the wife and took her away to an unknown direction.
Police spokesperson said the victim was taken away by the hoodlums in the husband’s Lexus Jeep 350 with registration Number LND 813 CP after wounding one Ifeanyi Ajah on his head with an axe.
She said the kidnappers later demanded N10 million ransom for the release of the victim.
According to her, after the report of the abduction of the victim, operatives of Dragon Patrol Team, acting on a tip-off, traced the Lexus Jeep to Ezi Village in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State where the vehicle was found abandoned by the criminals.
The next day, she narrated, a police patrol team from Onicha-Olona, acting in synergy with local vigilante, rescued the victim from kidnapper’s den located in Obomkpa bush while the kidnappers escaped.
