Political analysts have described the failed siege as a legislative coup and another failed plot to change the leadership of the National Assembly which resulted in the sacking of the Director of the DSS Lawal Daura by acting President Yemi Osinbajo who ordered for an investigation to be started immediately in order to uncover the motives and the actors behind the disgraceful attack on the democratic institution.
The latest report released by the Inspector-general of Police confirms wild speculations that the ex-DSS director was acting out a script given to him by highly placed politicians with selfish interests; they gave him the go ahead to invade the National Assembly assuring him that he had the backing of the presidency; the plans backfired instead.
Excerpts from the report confirms that the former DG did not act on his own but was working with APC Senators who were having another meeting at President Buhari’s private residence during the siege of the National Assembly where it is believed that they were planning the next steps on their grand plan to impeach Senator Bukola Saraki the Senate President.
According to the report, the former DSS DG was still being interrogated under house arrest in a private property at Garki, the Federal capital territory.
The Invasion of the National Assembly has been widely condemned by Nigerians and the International community at large.
