The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has paraded a pastor for allegedly killing a female church member in an altercation that occurred in his office.
This was revealed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, on Tuesday in the state capital, Uyo.
Pastor Gideon Idio of God’s Power City allegedly killed the church member, Joanna Okon, in a quarrel in his office, the cause of which could still not be ascertained.
Nwawe explained that the pastor had invited the member into his office before an altercation arose between the duo that led to the suspect attacking the victim, which reportedly caused her to collapse.
She said: “The so-called pastor locked the deceased inside his office and used the deceased phone to call her close relation claiming to be a tricycle driver who picked up the girl from Udotung Ubo Street en route Itam where she slumped inside the tricycle and is being taken to an undisclosed hospital.
“As if that was not enough the suspect later at about 7p.m. informed the relations of the girl that he saw the corpse of the deceased at IBB Road, Uyo and has removed the corpse to his office, after which the suspect and relations of the deceased conveyed the corpse to a mortuary at Ibiono Ibom.”
