A police officer killed while on duty during the re-run elections in Rivers state on Saturday has been buried in his home town.
Mohamed Alkali was buried on Monday, Dec 12, in Bosso, Niger State. He was killed along with some of his colleagues in the violence that characterized the re-run elections to fill vacant legislative seats.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the corpse, which arrived Minna at about 1:30am, was received by the deceased’s father, Alhaji Yakubu Alkali, a retired Commissioner of Police, family members and many sympathizers.
The funeral rites were witnessed by top government officials that included Alhaji Zubairu Muazu, Commissioner of Police in Niger. The deceased is survived by his parents, one wife and three children.
