Police officer implicated in marriage scam with Nigerian based woman

A police inspector attached to the Special Frauds Unit, Ikoyi, Mr. Anthony Chukwu has been implicated in a multi million Naira marriage fraud involving a Nigerian lady based in America, one Vernoica Okwara.

Vernoica met Anthony after he was introduced to her by a mutual acquaintance to help her investigate and resolve a case involving employee theft of a vehicle worth N3.8 million.

After that episode, Anthony inquired as to the marital status of Veronica and after learning she was single began to woo her, lying about his marital status.

In her petition to the Inspector General of Police, Veronica claims that Anthony and his wife conspired to lie about their marriage and three children in order to reap economic benefits from her under false pretext.

“Chukwu asked me if I was married and I said no. He told me he had divorced his wife and proposed to me. Because he sounded good, I discussed with my family and accepted his marriage proposal.”

She later married Chukwu at the North Carolina Registry in America.

the case is being investigated by Interpol.
