Police officers in Delta have nabbed a gang of armed robbers including a 62-year-old man, as well as an 82-year old weapons suppliers. They are said to have been operating around the Urhobo communities of Ughelli, Warri, and UDU.
The first success in the case was made on March 6 when police officers trailed and arrested one of the members of the gang with the help of a certain Nokia phone he had previously stolen.
Upon his arrest, the 62 years old suspect had a pump action gun and seven cartridges in his possession. He then confessed to having been a part of the three robbery operations that went down in Uvwie, Ughelli, and Udu
He subsequently confessed the location of the gang’s armory and led police officers there. At the location, four double barrel guns, two pump action guns, a single barrel gun, two bulletproof vests, one Air gun, and 274 cartridges.
The man whose house was used to store the pieces of ammunition identified himself as Udenmba Ndu Ben. He is said to be the main weapons supplier to the gang.
While parading the suspects, a police spokesperson in the state explained that investigations are still ongoing, and other members of the gang would soon be brought to justice.
