IGP Adamu

The Inspector-General of Police has ordered the immediate shutdown of all satellite offices under Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).

This is coming after Sagamu residents marched to protest the unlawful killing of Tiamiyu Kazeem, Remo Football stars player by a yet-to-be-identified SARS operative.

The deceased had been accosted by SARS operatives who accused him of engaging in cyber fraud popularly called Yahoo-yahoo. The situation which escalated so quickly resulted in the death of the young football star.

Angry citizens took to the streets to express their displeasure and the unfairness of being the object of torture by the very people who were assigned to protect them.

The Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu who was represented by Peter Ogunyanwo, Deputy Police IG on Research and Planning was part of the delegation that visited the home of the deceased.

During the visit, Ogunyanwo on behalf of Adamu announced the immediate closure of SARS satellite offices, while assuring everyone the culprits will be brought to book.

He issued a directive that all the activities at the satellite offices be completely handed over to Commissioners in their respective states.

Dapo Abiodun who was among the delegation also paid a condolence visit to the town’s traditional ruler, Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi.

He said: “Today, I was on a condolence visit to the residence of Tiamiyu Kazeem’s parents.

“Tiamiyu, who was until his death, a vice captain of the Remo Stars Football Club died in an unfortunate encounter with some men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) who were on an illegal mission.

“Kaka’s death is irreversibly regrettable because Ogun State has lost a man of unexplored talents.

“But this long-awaited, significant reform within the structures of the Nigerian Police assures us of an end to such anomalies,”
