It was a terrible day for former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, as he narrowly escaped death by the whiskers.
It was learnt that Chief Falae, who has been in the news in recent months, was on Tuesday shot at by a policeman escorting a bullion van around Ile Oluji junction in Ondo State while travelling to Ile Ife, Osun State.
Falae, the National Chairman of the Social Demcocratic Party (SDP), was on his way to a meeting of the pan-Yoruba group Afenifere at the request of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi when the incident occurred.
“I was coming from Akure approaching Ilesa. I saw some vehicles ahead of me. There was a bullion van in front, the vehicles ahead of us were overtaking the bullion van and we followed too.
“I barely overtook them when I heard a shot and a bang on my car. We stopped and we saw that they had fired at our car.
“They didn’t stop. We stopped at Erin-Ijesa and complained to the police at the check-point that we were fired at by some policemen attached to a bullion van at Ile-Oluji juction,” Falae was quoted to have said by The Punch.
