Police in Enugu arrest 3 suspected robbers with bullet wounds in hospital

The Police Command in Enugu State on Wednesday said that it had arrested three armed robbery suspects ridden with bullet wounds through hospitals’ surveillance in Nsukka axis of Enugu State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on Friday engaged bandits in a gun duel, leaving one dead and many with bullet injures fleeing at about 7:15 p.m. in Odenigwe Road in Nsukka.

The command’s spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, told NAN in Enugu that the first suspect was arrested following continuous surveillance and information from a public spirited individual at about 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

“One of the suspects identified as Kelechukwu Isiani of Amukpa Ogboalla Opi in Nsukka Local Government Area was arrested at a hospital where he had allegedly gone to treat bullet wounds he sustained in the hand and chest.

“Suspect is now helping the police in their investigations which also led to the arrest of two other members of the gang at their hideout.

“The two arrested members of the notorious robbery gang who gave their names as Nnamdi Omeje, a.k.a. Obele and a female member of the gang identified as Chiamaka Agbo.

“The three of them are currently helping police operatives in their investigation,’’ he said.

The police spokesman noted that the command had already renewed and increased its onslaught against crime and criminality in the state. (NAN)
