The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the release of the school pupils and their teachers abducted in Emure Ekiti.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Sunday Abutu disclosed this on Sunday.
According to him, the nine pupils and teachers abducted in their school bus along Emure-Eporo Road last week regained their freedom at 1: 30 am today.
The kidnappers shot at the bus and later whisked away nine persons comprising five students, three female teachers and a driver among the occupants of the bus.
However, Abutu said that the driver of the bus died.
“All victims were rescued today at about 1.30am, but unfortunately, we lost the driver who was suspectedly killed by the abductors,” Abutu said.
Chairman of Emure Local Government, Mr Adebayo Oluwatosin, also confirmed the development to Radio Nigeria.
He added that the victims were now in the palace of Elemure of Emure Ekiti.
