The Nigerian Police Force has announced that investigations have begun on the viral video where Senator Elisha Abbo was seen assaulting a lady inside a sex toy shop in Abuja.
According to reports, the Inspector General of Police asked that FCT’s commissioner of police, Bala Ciroma, launch a probe into the matter and conduct a forensic analysis on the video.
Confirming the investigation order, the Nigerian Police spokesperson, DCP Frank Mba told newsmen from Punch that “the circumstances surrounding the assault” would be examined.
However, he stated that he could not tell whether the senator would be arrested yet.
Mba said, “The lawmaker may be arrested in the course of the investigation, but arrest is not always the first thing during investigations.
“The IG assured that the Force would not only ensure that justice would not only be done in the matter, but it would be manifestly done, as the law is no respecter of status or rank.”
