Ondo state residents have been thrown into a state of pandemonium following speculated reports of a bank robbery.
Ondo state Police Command has issued a statement asking the general public to disregard such reports as they lack factual substance.
The rumour mill began brewing reports of an alleged robbery attack on a new generational bank in Oke Aro, Akure. This led to banks shutting their doors on customers and a huge reduction in movement in the state. Residents stuck to their homes, refusing to venture out. Within few hours, most of the roads becam deserted
It would be recalled there was a robbery attack in Ile-oluji local government area of the state few weeks ago where two people were shot and nine others severely injured.
However, Femi Joseph spokesperson of the Ondo state has issued a statement assuring residents to be calm and disregard the rumours.
“The Ondo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public especially the Citizens of the State to disregard any rumour of Bank Robbery or attempted Bank Robbery in Akure or anywhere in the state.

“We make bold to say that the story is not only false and mischievous but also wicked and lacks substance as no such incident happened anywhere in the State.
“We urge the good people of the state to disregard this rumour, as it is nothing but a blatant lie from the pit of hell.
“Our men are everywhere across the State to deal with any manner of crime or criminality.”
