The Adamawa Police Command has assured residents of the state of adequate security during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
A statement issued on Friday in Yola by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Othman Abubakar, said the police and other security agencies in the state had put in place measures to ensure hitch-free celebrations.
He, however, said the ban on use of fireworks and other explosives was still in force, urging parents to caution their wards.
“The Adamawa State Police Command wishes the Christian community in Adamawa State a happy Christmas celebration and to inform the general public that the command in conjunction with other sister agencies have put in place adequate security measures to ensure hitch-free celebrations.
“The command, however, warns that the ban on the use of fireworks such as knockouts, banger and other forms of explosives during the Christmas and New Year festive period is still in force.
“The command, therefore, advises parents to warn their children to refrain from such ugly trend as the police will not hesitate to clamp down on any person(s) caught selling or using these fireworks,” he said.
