The Nigerian Police Force has asked for information that can lead to the arrest of a policeman who shot a man in the leg without provocation.
A Twitter user @iamteeblizz shared a 23-second video of the incident on Thursday in response to a tweet in which the police described itself as an “open, transparent and accountable” organisation.

A police statement responding to the video read: “The IGP, Ag IGP M.A Adamu is committed to defending and protecting the right of all citizens. These include citizen’s right to life, right to liberty and the right to the dignity of the human person amongst others.
“We will therefore appreciate any credible information that will assist us in the discharge of these sacred roles. We appeal to anyone with any useful information on this video to contact us via X-Squad 09026900729 PCRRU for call 08057000001 or 08057000002 PCRRU for SMS 08057000003 PCB 07056792065 without delay.
“Meanwhile preliminary investigation touching on the authenticity and general circumstances relating to the video has commenced. Please help us to serve better.”
