Police Arrest Two for the Abduction and Murder of Farmer’s Fiancée in Oyo

The Police have arrested two people in connection with the abduction of a farmer as well as the murder of her fiancée in the process.

Abubakar Mohammed and Ayakunle Ayaleye were both arrested by the Oyo State police command for the killing of Opeoluwa Oladipo and the abduction of Modupeoluwa Oyeteso in the Lanlete area of Ibarapa East local government area.

Modupeoluwa was abducted by four armed men while returning from her farm while she was in the company of her fiancée who was shot dead by the assailants as he attempted to resist the attack and escape.

According to the Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State Police Command, Gbenga Fadeyi, a mobile android phone, a single barreled gun, and parts of the ransom money paid for the release of the farmer was recovered from the suspects. He also said two other suspects are on the run but being tracked by police officers.

The police statement regarding the arrest read;

“Information reaching me on the kidnapping case at Odo-Edu Igbodudu Road, Lanlate, Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State, where one Modupeoluwa Oyetoso reported that her fiancé, Opeoluwa Oladipo, was shot in a Toyota Highlander SUV and she was kidnapped, has revealed that two suspects, Abubakar Mohammed, 30, and Ayankunle Ayaleye, 37, have been arrested in connection with the case.

“The sum of N22,500, which was part of the ransom collected, was recovered in addition to one Tecno phone and a single-barreled gun used for the operation. Efforts have been intensified to arrest two other fleeing members of the criminal gang.”

The police further confirmed that the suspects were positively identified by Modupeoluwa as part of the gang that abducted her and killed her fiancée.
