Police Arrest four robbery suspects in Enugu

The Enugu state police command on Tuesday arrested four armed robbery suspects operating along Ugwuogo-Opi-Nsuka road in Nsuka axis of the state.

Mr Ebere Amaraizu, spokesman of the state command, confirmed in a report that the suspects were caught through intelligence information and that an AK 47 rifle and an english pump action gun were recovered from them.

Amaraizu said the four suspects were nabbed by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping unit of the command.

“It was gathered that the suspects identified as Friday Nwafor and Nweke Lebechi who belonged to a notorious kidnap syndicate operating with an AK47 rifle in Nsukka and its environs.

“They were nabbed by the police with their AK 47 Riffle at a place identified as one-man village, Kwakwa, Abuja, after a serious gun duel on Sunday at 7am.

“While one Umar Garba and Adamu Ibrahim were nabbed by police at their hideouts at Gariki Awkunanaw in Enugu South Local Government Area and Asaba, Delta State, respectively on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6 in the early hours,’’ he said.

The command’s spokesman said the police will continue thier manhunt for other members of the gang.

“The command has renewed its onslaught against criminals terrorising members of the public to keep the state calm and quiet throughout the yuletide,’’ he added.
