The police in Ogun have arrested three men found in possession of human skulls.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state,Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, made the disclosure in a statement in Abeokuta on Friday.
Oyeyemi said two of the suspects, Saibu Popoola and Aliu Ajiroba, were arrested on Thursday in Aiyetoro during police patrol.
“Our men conducted a search on them and two skulls were seen in their bag.
“They were arrested and taken to Aiyetoro Police Station where they told the police that the skulls were given to them by one Jimoh Ijiola who lives in Erinpa area of Aiyetoro.
“Our men also arrested Ijiola at the said residence on Thursday but he denied that he gave them the skulls.
“He, however, confessed that the trio normally get skulls from the Republic of Benin for the purpose of rituals,” he said.
Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police had directed that the case be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) for further investigation.
