The police on Monday arraigned a 54-year-old woman, Bukola Ajayi, before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly stealing chickens and turkeys worth N981,000 from a poultry farm.
The police charged Ajayi of Olutana village, Igbo -Oloyin , Ibadan, with two counts of breaking and entering.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Opeyemi Olagunju, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 18, at about 4. 20 p.m. at Olutana Village.
Olagunju said the accused stole the birds from the complainant, Mrs Folasade Adebayo.
“The accused was caught inside the poultry by one of the attendants after the close of work with the birds,” he said.
Olagunju said the complainant reported the case at Criminal, Intelligent and Investigation Department CIID, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The offence, he said, contravened Sections 390 (9) and 413 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
After the charges were read to her, she pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Segun Akeredolu, urged the court to grant his client bail on the most liberal terms.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulateef Adebisi, admitted the accused ro bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Adebisi adjourned case until Oct. 4 for hearing. (NAN)
