Police Arraign Man, 27, For Allegedly Causing Grievous Hurt To Victim

The police on Wednesday arraigned one Solomon Ayon, 27, before  a Grade I Area Court Kubwa for allegedly causing grievous hurt to one Salisu Adamu.

Avon, who is a resident of Kuchibuyi village, Byanzhin, Kubwa is standing trial  on a two-count charge of constituting public nuisance and causing grievous hurt.

The Prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that the complainant, Salisu Adamu, reported the matter at Kubwa Police Station  on July 23.

Olanipekun said the defendant was seen in front of a shop located on Dikko Street, Kubwa, and could not give reasonable account of himself when questioned by the complainant.

He further said the defendant acted in a violent manner without provocation and inflicted an injury on the complainant’s nose.
The prosecuting  counsel said the complainant was taken to Kubwa General Hospital  where he received treatment  and spent N9, 500.

He added that the offence contravened Sections 183 and 247 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Mr Muhammad Adamu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300, 000 with one reasonable surety in like sum and who is residing within the court’s jurisdiction.

Adamu also ordered that the surety must present means of identification and adjourned the case until Sept.23 for hearing.
