Police arraign bricklayer for allegedly stealing generator from Church

The police on Friday arraigned a 45-year-old bricklayer, Kasali Abesinde, in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ court for allegedly stealing a generator from a church in Ibadan.

The police charged Abesinde, who lives in St. Stephen area, Bola, Ibadan, with three counts of breaking and entering, stealing and unlawful possession of electronic gadgets.

Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Oluseye Oyebanji told the court that Abesinde on Dec. 2, at about 4 p.m. allegedly broke into Christ Apostolic Church, Garden of Miracle Church, Mokola Ibadan and stole one Elepac generator valued N95,000.

Oyebanji said that the accused also stole an extension box valued N1,500, and rechargeable lamp.

He said that the complainant, Mr Olayinka Okunrotifa, who lives on  No. 2, Queen Elizabeth road, Mokola, Ibadan reported the matter at Mokola Police station on Dec.3, at about 8: 30am.

Oyebanji said the offence contravened the provisions of section 390 (9), 415 and 430 of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol.II, Laws of Oyo state 2000.

Abesinde pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osho adjourned the case until Jan. 8, for mention. (NAN)
