The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has announced the commencement of a special search and stop operation to be conducted on roads and highways across the country with emphasis on major roads leading in and out of major towns and cities.
The Inspector General of Police said the Force was acting on an intelligence report.
Although the IGP did not reveal the details of the intelligence report, the announcement comes amid increased Boko Haram attacks across the Northern region of the country.
Security analysts say there are concerns that the insurgent elements may attempt to attack other regions of the country.
The statement from Force HQ added, “The special security measure is in no way a return of roadblocks. Any unprofessional conduct should be reported at www.stopthebribes.net or nearest Police Station.”
