World Cup winner Paul Pogba did not waste time in stamping his authority back in Carrington when he led Manchester United to an opening day victory.
The French international was on hand to score a 2nd minute penalty against Leicester City after defender Amartey was deemed to have handled the ball in the box.
Pogba who was also given the captain’s armband for the day, stepped up and scored the penalty with ease, putting it beyond Kasper Schmeichel in goal.
The France captain was also a livewire all through the game alongside newcomer, Fred
This led many to say that perhaps the reported feud between him and manager Jose Mourinho was a hoax or that perhaps they had settled things.

Mourinho himself was effusive in his praise for his captain for the night stating,
“It was not hard,” Said Mourinho on his decision to give him the armband. “The decision belonged to him because Andreas Pereira comes from the Valencia bench as a winger to play number six, Fred, 10 days training, Ukrainian league, comes direct to Old Trafford, Ander Herrera injured, I had only two options: Scott or Paul.
“But if I play Scott I play two kids and a new player, so I asked Paul and he put himself available for the team and he was very, very good for us.”
Pogba however, didn’t seem too pleased as he took to his Instagram to state that he would give his all regardless of the situation which seemed to hint that all is indeed not well in the United camp.
He captioned his post thus: “I’ll always give my best to the fans and my teammates no matter what’s going on. #pogfeelings”
The Red Devils will hope to keep their winning start intact when they face Brighton on Aug. 19 before a potentially tricky fixture against Tottenham Hotspurs.
