Mr. Ayuba Gufwan, the physically challenged PDP chairmanship candidate in Mangu Local Government of Plateau, says that his physical disability will not affect his electoral fortunes in the on-going local government polls.
Gufwan, who spoke with newsmen after casting his vote in Mangu on Wednesday, said that the support he had rendered to the less privileged over the years would give him victory.
“Over the years, I have been committed to improving the quality of lives for the poor and the vulnerable.
“In the course of my campaign, I found that many people were in dire need and have resolved to assist them if elected.
“The people I met in the course of the campaign did not even notice my physical deformity. They were more interested in what I could deliver and promised to vote for me. I have no reason to doubt them,” he said.

Gufwan expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, and praised the voters for being patient and orderly.
“In all the polling units where I monitored the exercise, the people were very patient and orderly. We pray that the same conduct will be replicated at the collation centers,” he said.
He cautioned voters against taking laws into their hands, and urged them to be prayerful, vigilant and determined to ensure that the right thing was done.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the PDP candidate, a lawyer, is the founder of Beautiful Gate People Centre, an NGO that has donated 18,000 wheel chairs since its establishment in 1999.
