The Herald recalls that assailants conducted simultaneous attacks on communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of the Plateau State on Christmas eve. These attacks have so far claimed over 200 lives with hundreds of houses and farmlands burnt. That the assailants were not repelled by security agents irked many Nigerians.
In a recent update, The Herald reports that the Police has arrested eight persons in connection with the coordinated attacks on dozens of rural dwellers on Bokkos, Barkin-Ladi, and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau State, hours before Christmas.
The police spokesperson in the state, Alfred Alabo, told journalists on Thursday that the suspects were arrested at various locations.
“Concerning the Inspector General of Police’s deployment, we have been getting tremendous success from that process,” Alabo said.
“It would also interest you to know that seven persons, in fact as of the last count, there are now eight of them under investigation in our custody and they have been moved to the state CID where the AIG Zone 4 and the commissioner of police are overseeing the affairs of the operation and also the investigation.”
