Kano Pillars Football Club on Sunday beat visiting Nasarawa United 2-1 in the ongoing Nigerian Professional Football League.
The match, which was played at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, had large spectators as usual.
The Nasarawa striker, Esosa igbinoba, opened scoring for the visitors after 15 minutes of the game, while Pillars Winger, Adamu Mohammed, equalised for the home side in the 38th minute with a header.
However, Gambo Mohammed doubled the lead in the 45th minute and several efforts by the visitors to equalise were abortive, as Pillars defended tenaciously.
Pillars handler, Babaganaru Muhammad, commended his players for coming behind and winning the match.
He said “I want to commend my boys for their fighting spirit and for the brilliant performance.”
Coach Kabiru Dogo of Nasarawa United admitted it was a tough game and described Kano Pillars as a good side.
“I am pleased with the performance of the boys in general and I also commend Pillars for their performance,” he said. (NAN)
