Controversial striker Luis Suarez has arrived in Spain and is expected to complete his move to Barcelona in the coming days.
Barcelona and Liverpool announced last week that they had reached an agreement over the transfer of the 27-year-old, who was keen to move to Spain.
And the former Ajax man landed in Catalonia on Monday evening and will spend the next few days taking in the sights before signing his contract.
Suarez is banned from “all footballing activities” until the end of October for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini, meaning Barca have been barred from giving their new signing a public unveiling.
When he is allowed to represent the club, he will wear the No.9 shirt and form an all-star South American front-line with Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Suarez is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year deal when he completes his move.
Barcelona’s decision to sign Suarez has divided opinion, with Johan Cruyff saying that the move signals the end of his former club’s attractive style of football.
The Uruguayan FA saw an appeal against Suarez’s suspension rejected by Fifa, but barca are “convinced” that the length of the ban will be reduced when his case goes to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
