The June 12 struggle and the activists who took part in that daring revolt against military intimidation are being celebrated across the country.
This is following last week’s recognition of the historic date as Nigeria’s new Democracy Day by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, on Sunday shared photos of himself in prison during the period.

Sani was jailed for life by the Sani Abacha junta after he was implicated in the 1995 phantom coup.
However, his sentence was commuted to 15 years by the Patrick Aziza Special Military Tribunal, which also tried Generals Olusegun Obasanjo and Shehu Yar’Adua.
