President Buhari has appointed Muhammed Babandede as the interim Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS).
Martin Abeshi was Babandede’s predecessor and was fired by the President a couple of days ago.
Abeshi’s termination was contained in a letter, which was signed by Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau(rtd) the Minister of Interior on Tuesday, May 17, entitled: ‘notification of retirement’.
Abeshi was also in the letter directed to hand over to Babandede with immediate effect.
Abeshi was sacked allegedly due to a case of nepotism. It was reported that he appointed his third wife and eldest son into the service.
Babandede was in charge of the Operations and Passport Directorate of the service until his appointment as CG.
