Popular Actress, Omotola Jolade Ekeinde recently attended the First Ever African summit on child marriage which held at Lusaka, Zambia.
She spoke on the ways Movies and media can help eradicate child marriages from Africa.
She also meet with the Zambian president Edgar Lungu who stated that he’s not interested in curbing child marriage but eliminating it.
During her speech, she said “As filmmakers, we need to stand on our own. Governments may not support us in our infancy but if we start up something some help will show up.
“Sharing knowledge, documenting progress governments and partners have made in the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in last decades and highlighting some of the ongoing challenges that still need to be addressed. So film makers have a lot of work.”
