A group of teenage boys in a UK school turned up wearing skirts after their school management refused to let them wear shorts to school owing to the temperature surge being experienced.
The teenage boys, five in number, were reported to have showed up at the ISCA Academy in Exeter, Devon, wearing the skirts after being told by teachers that they’d be placed in isolation if they to walk into class in shorts
One of the pupils, 14, was according to his mother told by the head teacher earlier “you can wear a skirt if you like” when he complained about the heat.
The pupil took the words literally and proceeded to wear the skirt along with four other pupils.
The mother said: “My son wanted to wear shorts but was told he would be put in the isolation room for the rest of the week.
“The head teacher told them, ‘Well you can wear a skirt if you like’, but I think she was being sarcastic.
“However, children tend to take you literally and so five boys turned up in skirts today – and because she told them it was okay there was nothing she could do as long as they are school skirts.”
The mother however revealed that one of the boys did get into trouble as his skirt was too short for the school management.
According to report, following the success of the first five boys, some other boys, about 50 in number are planning to launch their skirt movement.
One of the mothers of the boys said: “There are about 50 boys who are trying to borrow skirts off the girls and they all say they are going to wear them tomorrow.
“Children also don’t like injustice. The boys see the women teachers in sandals and nice cool skirts and tops while they are wearing long trousers and shoes and the older boys have to wear blazers. They just think it’s unfair that they can’t wear shorts in this heat.
“They are doing this to cool down – but also to protest because they don’t feel they have been listened to.”
