The embattled Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has called on Muslims in the state to continue to exhibit qualities of good-neighbourliness and to always consider themselves at home in the God’s own state.
The Governor made this call while breaking the iftar Ramadan fast with the Muslim Community in the state.
The event was held at the Government House in Umuahia where the Governor recalled his early days in pursuit of academic knowledge which took him to Maiduguri for his Bachelors and Masters Degree programs.
Ikpeazu during the event expressed his deeply rooted respect for the religion and also noted that he is conversant with the tenets of Islam.
He further urged the Muslim community to continue to exhibit and practice good deeds imbibed during the Ramadan period
He also also used the opportunity to canvass for the support of the Muslim community in the state to support the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and the ongoing fight against corruption in the country.
The Leader of the delegation of the Muslim community during the event also assured the Ikpeazu of their support and commitment especially in the face of the current battle to retain the governorship seat.
