A Twitter user @nyakkman has accused operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of searching and brutalising his staff without provocation in Lagos on Thursday.
The Lagos-based entrepreneur said in a series of tweets that the incident occurred at 9.03 am in the Fadeyi area of Lagos as the said staff, who he did not name, went to withdraw money from the Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
He said the policemen from Charly Boy police station conducted both “body search” and “phone search” on his staff before driving him from Fadeyi and abandoning him at the Gbagada link bridge.
He added that the staff was brutalised because he could not produce his identification card, which he had left in the office because the ATM point was only three buildings away.
“SARS are maiming innocent citizens. Stop the violence and terror,” he said.
Added to the statement was a photo of the victim with a bloodied face from a cut above his eye allegedly inflicted by the SARS operatives.
