The Senegalese Shanghai Shenhua striker suffered a horrific injury during a game against bitter rivals Shanghai SIPG.
The 31-year-old had feared that the injury would be career ending but he wouldn’t have to worry about that anymore as the prognosis is that he’d be out for 8 months.
Reports state that the striker’s first question after waking up in pain after about four hours was ‘Did we win?’
The injury drew shocked reactions from everyone with Shanghai Shenhua boss Gregorio Manzano saying: “It could end Ba’s professional career. I would rather lose the game than lose Ba. God is unfair. Ba is too good to have this happened to him.”
Wu Xiaohui, Chairman of Shanghai Shenhua Football Club, even broke down in tears when describing the full extent of Ba’s horror injury to the media.
Fellow African and Shanghai Greenland Shenhua forward Obafemi Martins has already been to visit Ba at the hospital after the injury.
