(Photo): Bauchi graduate tears, burns all certificates after failed job search

1 Min Read

A graduate of Bauchi State University, Usman Abubakar, has allegedly torn and burnt all has certificates after failing to secure employment.

Abubakar, who graduated in 2014 with a Second Class (Upper) degree, was said to have destroyed the certificates out of frustration.

While tearing the documents, the Bauchi indigene lamented that Nigeria was not a fair country and called his education a waste of time and resources.

He added that there was no future for him in a country where securing a good job was tied to connection with influential politicians.

Abubakar also said he no longer needed the certificates and would instead focus on a job requiring his energy and not certificates.

His parents reportedly supported his decision to destroy the certificates, claiming that their son worked hard to bag a second class (upper) degree but his country failed him.

An educational platform on Twitter, Inside School Nigeria, shared details of the incident in a series of tweets on Monday.

The Herald could not independently confirm the incident.
