An Indian pharmacist has died after drinking a chemical concoction he helped develop in an effort to beat the deadly coronavirus.
The 47-year-old pharmacist in Chennai died after consuming the concoction he helped create with his boss in an effort to beat the novel virus. His boss is currently recovering in the hospital after also drinking the corrosive chemical.
The men worked for a herbal medicine company and were testing their treatment which is a mix of nitric oxide and sodium nitrate at a home in southern Chennai city.
According to local police, Chief Ashok Kumar, Sivanesan died on the spot while his boss was rushed to the hospital after taking the concoction
Kumar said Sivanesan bought the chemicals from a local market and developed the formula after conducting research on the internet.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the race has been on to find the cure for the novel virus that has taken many lives.

Till date, there is no confirmed cure or vaccine for the virus. However, a lot of people have come up with their own remedies which they believe will cure the virus.
Nearly 60,000 cases have been detected in India, which has imposed a drastic nationwide lockdown in an effort to halt the spread of the disease.
