The Plateau chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has condemned the recent killings and destruction of properties in some parts of Plateau.

Rev. Steven Dangana, the Chairman of PFN in the state, made the condemnation in a statement on Monday in Jos.

Dangana, who described the ugly trend as “unfortunate”, advised Nigerians, irrespective of religious belief, to tolerate one another for peace to reign in the country.

“It is with sadness that the PFN has noticed the incessant and unprovoked killings and destruction of properties in Bassa, Riyom and Jos North Local Government Areas of Plateau.

“We condemn in totality all forms of killings and destruction of properties irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliations.

“We particularly condemn the recent killing of commuters on Rukuba road in Jos North; it is sad, unfortunate and regrettable.

“We sympathise with families of those who lost their loved ones as a result of these attacks and pray to God to comfort and grant them fortitude to bear the loss.

“We wish to advise Nigerians to tolerate one another, that way, we shall promote peaceful co-existence in our society,” he said.

Dangana appealed to residents of the affected areas to be calm and law abiding, noting that reprisal was not the solution.

He also called on the security agencies to intensify efforts toward ending incessant killings in the state and apprehend the perpetrators.

“We believe in the sanctity of lives and the right of everyone to live, travel and transact their business anywhere in peace.

“We are committed to working with government and security agencies for the sustainance of peace and peaceful co-existence,” he added.

The PFN chairman pledged to support and collaborate with other religious bodies to ensure that message of peace, tolerance and forbearance with one another is demonstrated among their followers.

He assured that PFN would continue to pray for the return of lasting peace to Plateau and Nigeria in general. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
