Petrol Pump Price Increase Confirms My Fears About Buhari – Fayose

2 Min Read
Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose says the increase in petrol pump price further confirms fears he expressed about having Muhammadu Buhari as president in the build-up to the 2015 general election.

He stated this in a Wednesday tweet after the Federal Government increased the pump price to N151.56 per litre.

The Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), made the announcement in a statement signed by D.O Abalaka.

“Please be informed that a new product price adjustment has been effected on our payment platform.

“To this end, the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) is now one hundred and fifty-one naira, fifty-six kobo (N151.56k) per litre,” the statement read in part.

Accoridng to the statement, the increment took effect from September 2.

Reacting, Fayose said that present global realities showed that the price of oil has dropped significantly, and queried how the PPMC arrived at the decision to increase pump price.

He also berated the Save Nigeria Group (SNG), a civil society coalition which vehemently resisted a petrol price hike under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2012.

“Petrol is now N151.56. The increment was made when other countries are adopting measures to reduce the effects of COVID-19 lockdown on their citizens.

“Just in case those who led the Save Nigeria protests across Nigeria during the PDP government of Jonathan are not aware. I warned,” Fayose said.
