Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has charged Nigerians against expecting saintly qualities from the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi.
Obasanjo, who spoke during the 2018 Ukpor Day over the weekend, said that saints live in heaven and have higher morals than mortals.
Obi is generally regarded as a frugal and saintly politician by a cross section of Nigerians.
But Obasanjo described as hypocritical the urge among some Nigerians to subject Obi to abnormally high standards that were not being applied to other politicians.
However, the former president said that amongy. politicians, “Obi is a bundle of integrity.”
Obasanjo, who tore his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership card in the build-up to the 2015 general elections, has made known his decision to back the party’s presidential candidate in the 2019 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
