Peter Obi and Arthur Eze exchange words over election rigging

2 Min Read

Business mogul and Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Chief Arthur Eze is engaged in a war of words with the outgoing governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi.

Arthur Eze accused the former Governor of outrightly rigging the elections that took place in the state last weekend.

Eze said, “Obi committed a crime and rigged election against the poor people and brought his man, Obiano. For eight years, there were no local government elections in Anambra, now he brought Obiano, his treasurer to take over from him. Now, Obiano will spend eight years and bring somebody, then we are in trouble.

“It’s for the poor, not for me, the needy, the orphan, not me. I am an old  man, I am going. It’s because of the poor that I am crying,” he said.

However in his response, Special Adviser to Governor Obi on Media, Mr. Valentine  Obienyem, said Eze was only bitter because his candidate lost the elections.

The statement stated: “In a decent society, nobody takes the views of people like Dr. Arthur Eze seriously for many reasons. It is understandable that he is angry that his minion, Tony Nwoye, through whom he wanted to hijack Anambra State again did not win. We therefore, forgive him for vomiting bile and speaking with indiscretion he is known for.”

Meanwhile the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to fix a date for supplementary elections in the state today.

INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega, had previously admitted that the elections were flawed due to collusion between some of his officials and politicians.
