Guardiola has declared that he is on Mourinho’s side after the Portuguese was sacked by Manchester United yesterday, 18th of December. Although, he on the other end, has been largely successful with Manchester City.
Guardiola’s men were able to secure a place in the last four of the Carabao Cup. The team faced Leicester city, away from home on Tuesday and the game ended 1-1 at full time. However, the defending champions had to settle things through a penalty shootout. City won 3-1 and Guardiola was delighted to have helped the team qualify. While speaking with newsmen after the match, he spoke compassionately about Mourinho whom he has been facing since his time at Barcelona.
He explained, “I am on his side, the managers – we are alone. They contact us to try to win when we don’t win I know what happens.”
“I know exactly what they can feel. Always I am there because we feel very alone, all the pressure is on our shoulders.
“He has a lot of experience, he is a tough man, he is coming back soon and we are going to play again.”
Meanwhile, Guardiola’s men are still in search of a quadruple this season.
Concerning the match against Leicester City, he explained, “We got to the final last season and won so we played to win the game. It was quite similar to last season. The end was the same and last season Claudio was exceptional and this year it was Arijanet.”
“I don’t know how the legs will be sustained for the rest of the season but it’s better to be in the semi-final than to be out.
