PDP’s Time is Up – Oshiomhole

Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party’s plot to postpone the elections is impossible because the party’s time is up and that cannot be postponed.

Oshiomhole while speaking at the palace of the Otaru of Igarra where he presented the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who will represent the party at both the federal and state legislatives chambers said “The issues are very clear. They have seen it and are now calling for the postponement of the February 14 elections.

“You cannot postpone the evil day. Nigeria must go for a peaceful election and the election will be peaceful.

“When God has decreed, no man can do otherwise; when your time is up, you can’t postpone it.

“What we need now is a leader with courage. The courage to stand for Nigeria and that is why after trying PDP for 16 years, we believe we need General Muhammadu Buhari to take over and secure our country so we can live our life.”

He added that “When General Buhari was in power, the War Against Indiscipline was felt everywhere.

“Nigerians have to make a very bold decision; we must make Nigeria work. When General Buhari was a Commanding Officer in the Military and some extremists rose up around Kano, he led a squad and pursued them as far as Chad.”

However, the Patriotic Vanguard, a group of young Nigerians has expressed fears that if elected, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd.) will reverse the present democratic dispensation.

The group according to Sina Animashaun, in a rally organised to sensitise Nigerians against voting for Buhari said “If Buhari has forgotten about the missing N2 billion when he was Minister of Petroleum Resources in the 70s, Patriotic Vanguard wishes to join other Nigerians in reminding him that his past record of unaccountability in public office raises fresh concern about his integrity and suitability for the office of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

“It has therefore become important to sensitise the general public and particularly voters on the need to be vigilant and ensure that Nigeria’s democratic process is not put on reverse gear.

“Whereas General Buhari and the APC would want Nigerians to believe that PDP is committing more than enough public resources to the ongoing presidential campaigns based on the N21 billion raised at its fund raising, the simple, undisputable truth today is that the APC and General Buhari are virtually outspending their opponents without public disclosure of the source and the size of campaign funds.”
