One of the contestants for the office of People’s Democratic Party national chairman, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, has declared that the party will not reclaim power in 2019 without Chief Bode George at the helm of affairs.
He stated this when he stormed the Abuja campaign flag-off of Chief Bode George.
Few minutes later, Dokpesi, a broadcast mogul, handled the microphone and spoke on George’s political antecedents and credentials, including his sojourn in the military.
He said, “George is a great illustrious son of this land, who is eminently qualified to be PDP national chairman. He is a team player; we can’t win in 2019 without the contributions of Olabode George.
“The PDP is out to reclaim power in 2019. We must put our enemies to shame. My appearance here is to show solidarity. Please, continue to support Olabode George,” he said.
He, however did not say he had stepped down for George.
George, a former deputy national chairman of the party, said the PDP chairmanship aspirants were united and willing to support whoever emerged as chairman in order to dislodge the APC-led government in 2019.
He described the ruling party as “a congregation of very strange bedfellows” who he said had no Board of Trustees (BoT) in place, could not hold NEC meetings and therefore lacked the capacity to govern effectively.
