The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, have through a chieftain and past governor of Niger State, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu reacted to claims that they have zoned the Vice Presidency of the nation for the 2019 elections.
According to Aliyu this is not the case and that it was the party that would pick but rather the Presidential candidate.
Speaking to Newsmen, Aliyu said that what happens is that the Presidential candidate would have to look for his running mate, pick him/her and then present such a person for the party to endorse.
He did admit that the chairmanship of the party and the Presidency had indeed been zoned to the South-West and North respectively.
He added that though these positions have been zoned “any member of our party who feels strongly that he should contest for the positions is free to do so”.
