Over 2,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Isialangwa South LGA of Abia State have defected to the Labour Party (LP). This mass defection was led by their Ward Chairmen in solidarity with Rowland Dennis, the member representing Isiala Ngwa South constituency, who recently left the PDP.

Governor Alex Otti welcomed the new members into the LP and presented them with their new party flags. He described the Labour Party as an inclusive platform open to all Nigerians and committed to good governance. Otti assured the new members that they would not face discrimination and would enjoy the same status as long-time members.

The Governor emphasized that his administration is focused on serving the poor and less privileged by delivering democracy dividends to the people. He dismissed speculations that Hon. Dennis’ defection was linked to the 2027 elections, stating that his focus remains on fulfilling his current mandate.

Hon. Dennis expressed his attraction to the Labour Party due to the Governor’s performance across the state, which motivated him to join the LP.
