A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State, Chief Kola Ojo, has died.
The party chieftain reportedly slumped while playing lawn tennis in his residence in Lokoja on Tuesday evening.
Although he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he was certified dead at the facility, The Herald gathered.
Until his death, Ojo was the Kogi West Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Kogi State chapter of PDP expressed sadness at the chieftain’s demise, adding that his contributions to the party’s development would be missed.
In a statement signed by PDP State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bode Ogunmola on Wednesday, the party condoled with Ojo’s family members and party faithful on his death.
A native of Okoro Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of the state, Ojo was a senior official in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s legal department before retirement.
He was said to be in his 60s at the time of his death.
