Vice President, Namadi Sambo has said that the Peoples Democratic Party, is not afraid of anything even card readers.
He stated that the party’s sole aim is to have a free and fair election.
In a statement by his spokesman, Umar Sani, Sambo was quoted as saying this during an interactive session with members of the Kano State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists.
Sambo said “One thing I will tell you is that PDP is not afraid of anything, not even the card reader. We are not afraid of the card reader. To be very honest, what we want is free and fair elections.
“We don’t want anything to go wrong through the use of the card reader. In Ebonyi State, the INEC commissioner there said he is going to repeat the testing and in so many other states there have been problems with the card reader, to the extent that INEC themselves have introduced an incidence form.
“That is why we are saying, let us do this thing properly.”
Meanwhile, Sambo has also assured Nigerians that the villages that were captured by Boko Haram insurgents are being re-captured by the military.
While addressing journalists at the residence of the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, in Kano, he said “Boko Haram is not different from ISIS in Iraq; as well as Taliban and Al-Qeda. The issue of terrorism started before this administration. The issue of terrorism is a new challenge to Nigeria and it came when we were unprepared.
“We have been able to train our security agencies; procure armaments for our military, and today we are succeeding as our military have succeeded in recapturing most of the towns and villages captured by the insurgents.”
