The governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara, Alhaji Bello Matawalle, has alleged that there was vote buying, among other election irregularities, in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
Matawalle made the allegation shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit in Maradun South area of Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara.
” I’m a living witness of a serving councillor sharing money to the electorate at a polling unit while casting their votes,” he said.
According to him, another irregularity that occurred in the election was shortage of ballot papers for candidates of National Assembly, in some polling units.
“According to reports from my party officials, the problem happened in five LGAs, including Tsafe, Kaura Namoda, Gusau, Maradun and Anka,” he said.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the conduct of election was largely peaceful in most of the polling units across the state.
Voters in those areas suspected to have high security challenges were relocated to areas where security was better assured. NAN
